Unpitch HEALTH ‘21: Creating Connections & Solving Critical Issues
On June 15th, the NEVCA hosted its 3rd Annual Unpitch HEALTH, which kicked off their first-ever Health Week! Unpitch HEALTH, is part of the near-decade old Unpitch series, bringing early stage founders together for personal meetings with senior VCs. Unpitch HEALTH — and the Unpitch series as a whole — continues to curate meaningful relationships, offer valuable opportunities, and open new doors for up-and-coming founders and seasoned investors alike.
This year, the event gathered thirteen founders, over half of which were first-time founders, with thirteen investors in a low-pressure environment to share advice and feedback on their businesses, which are solving problems in health markets ranging from mental health to diabetes, and using technologies that run the gamut from live therapeutic support to cloud-based medical device data communication.
Preceding the 1–2–1 investor/founder meetings, the participating founders and investors, along with members of the New England entrepreneurial community, met and networked on Rally Video — an opportunity for the community to connect, meet new people, and share their successes, experiences, and lessons learned along the way.
This year, the NEVCA brought in guest speaker, Dr. Lissy Hu, CEO and founder of CarePort, to kick off the event and share her expert industry insights with participants. Dr. Hu founded CarePort following her medical training at Harvard University, where she gained an intimate understanding of the clinical and operational issues related to the care transition process. CarePort’s care coordination platform has filled a major market gap, and Dr. Hu’s story and advice resonated with the Unpitch HEALTH founders.
As the second round of investor/founder meetings wrapped up, all participants headed back to Rally Video for a chance to casually debrief, wrap up any unfinished conversations, and make new connections.
