The venue? Live Nation’s brand new MGM Music Hall at Fenway.

The weather? Pouring rain all day.

The New England Venture Capital Association gathered over 150 attendees for its annual Rooftop Party celebration on Thursday, September 22. The NEVCA hosts RTP every year as the back-to-school social for the venture community. Guests bid farewell to the long summer months and welcome the start of the busy season over drinks, nibbles, and conversation.

This year’s attendee list included everyone from NEVCA Member Firms and Sponsors to Boston community pillars and friends. They were in for a special treat as the party broke ground as the first external event at MGM Music Hall at Fenway.

As the name suggests, a rooftop stands out as the quintessential element of this annual gathering, and the weather wasn’t looking kindly for any outdoor activities. Yet Boston knew that investors, community builders, and startup supporters were coming to connect for a special evening, and the rain stopped just in time for our Rooftop Party to be precisely that.

Three hours disappeared in flashes of pink neon lights, familiar faces reconnecting, and the faintest sound of Sweet Caroline and Don’t Stop Believing over the sound system.

One thought stood out as we guided the remaining attendees to the exit almost an hour after the official close. This Rooftop Party may have just topped the rest and is a shining example that our community is once again thriving in person.
